Certificate of Accomplishment

This two-year certificate/A.S. degree program is intended to prepare the student for jobs in business and government as Information Technologies and Management workers. Principle areas of study are computer software applications, Internet technologies, database systems, project management systems and basic network principles. These CIS courses prepare students for a career path in computer information systems & technologies. These courses teach terminology and provide hands-on laboratory experience with operating and network systems and stand alone and Internet based applications.

In order to obtain an Associate of Science degree, students must complete the courses required for the certificate and complete 27 to 38 units of General Education requirements listed in the Diablo Valley College catalog at the time of entry into the degree program, plus electives to total a minimum of 60 units. Courses numbered below 100 cannot be used to satisfy the degree requirements. To earn a degree, students must complete each course used to meet a major requirement with a "C" grade or better and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or better in the coursework required for the major.
